Be Baptised...
…Baptism marks the beginning of a journey as a new Christian. Sometimes baptism is referred to as a “Christening”, because this is the time when we formally receive our Christian name. The candidate for baptism will vow to follow the Christian life, and the Church in turn promises to support them. If the candidate is a baby, the Godparents will speak on their behalf – promising to support and bring up the child in the Faith.
St. John’s welcomes children and infants for baptism. This service may take place as part of the main Sunday mass, or on a separate occasion. Arrangements may be made with the clergy who will plan the occasion with parents and give them preparation for Baptism. Parents are encouraged to bring babies and children to church, where they will be encouraged and welcomed.
Adults may be baptized at any stage, normally in conjunction with being confirmed and with appropriate preparation. No one is too old to be baptized and confirmed. Please contact for more information…
